This connection system is an automatic locking / unlocking system activated by the relative vertical displacement of the two connector parts (i.e. the Male Connector and the Receptacle).
The downward and upward movements of the Male Connector into the Receptacle induce the rotation of the locking mechanism by guiding it along specific ways, as shown in the figure below.
The design of this system makes the connection possible even with a misalignment (according to entry cone design) and a relative angle (up to 10°) of the Male Connector compared to the Receptacle.
Once locked, the system is able to transmit loads from a part to the other during the whole life of the application.
A LEC is integrated inside the connector to make relative angular movement possible (up to 15°), and thus reduce the bending moment in the rest of the structure.
